Homosexuality & Christianity

Homosexuality used to be the most repulsive, the most hated, the most despised, and one of the ugliest sins in the Bible and to some measure, in the world. Homosexuals have come up with their more dignified name of "gay." Gay used to mean happy, joyful, a bright outlook and it was often used as a proper name for the feminine gender.

Homosexuality or gay activity now means sex perversion. Hours of debating and writing have been spent on this subject in the past few years. It has been in the civil arena as well as in the religious field. All kinds of arguments have been made for the acceptance of homosexuals and gays. Some say people are born gay. Some argue that love demands that homosexuals be accepted in all parts of society. Many religions are in hot debate over accepting or rejecting homosexuals.

How are we going to settle the homosexual issue? Is it good or is it evil? Man cannot settle this moral issue by himself. If we settle moral issues by man alone, then which man or which group of men? Moral issues must be settled by a higher being than man. They must be settled by the Bible, God's Word. Was it objectively wrong for Vladimir Lenin to murder millions of his own people when they rejected communism? Lenin thought it was right but those killed thought it was wrong. How can we determine who was right or who was wrong? The Bible and the Bible only has the source.

Some say if one rejects homosexuality he is guilty of hate. Another says if we reject gays we are not like Jesus. Others say man has the right to choose his life style. Some say homosexuals can be saved eternally. But what does the Bible say? It alone can give us objective truth about gays and homosexuals. We want to give quotes from the Bible and then my quotes thereafter.

  1. The death penalty was divinely authorized under the law of Patriarchy (Gen. 9:6). Did God love the murderer to be killed for murdering?
  2. God demanded the death penalty under the law of Moses for murder (Ex. 21:12). Did God love the murderer?
  3. Under Moses' law God demanded the death penalty for those who worked on the Sabbath (Ex. 35:2). Did God love the man that worked on the Sabbath? (Remember his life was to be taken for breaking God's law.)
  4. Under Moses' law God demanded the death penalty for children that cursed their parents (Lev. 20:9). Did God love children that cursed their parents?
  5. God demanded the death penalty for those guilty of incest (Lev. 20:11-12). Did God love those guilty of incest? They were condemned to die for this sin according to God's Old Testament law.
  6. God demanded the death penalty under the Old Testament for those guilty of sodomy (homosexuality) (Lev. 20:13). Did God love those guilty of homosexuality even though they must die for this sin?
  7. Under Moses' law God demanded the death penalty for those guilty of bestiality (Lev. 20:15-16). Did God love those people guilty of having sex with a beast?
  8. God demanded the death penalty for those who were false prophets (Deut. 13:1-10). Did God love those who were guilty of false teaching? God said they must die according to the Old Testament.
  9. Under the Old Testament God demanded the death penalty for those guilty of idolatry (Deut. 17:2-7). Did God love those who served idols?
  10. Under the Old Testment God demanded the death penalty for children who continued to rebel against their parents (Deut. 21:18-21). Did God love children who rebelled against their parents?
  11. God demanded the death penalty for those who were guilty of rape under Moses' law (Deut. 22:25). Did God love those who raped?
  12. God, according to Moses, demanded the death penalty for kidnapping (Ex. 21:16). Did God love the kidnapper?
  13. God demanded the death penalty for those who intruded into a sacred office in Old Testament times (Num. 1:51). Did God love them?

The Bible teaches those practicing homosexuality will be lost (Gal. 5:19). The "fornication" includes homosexuals. The Bible teaches that some of the Corinthians were homosexuals before conversion to Christ but they became Christians which meant they must give up all sinful activity (I Cor. 6:9-13) which included homosexuality (I Cor. 6:9). Romans 1:24-27 plainly points out that homosexuals cannot be saved nor can they be Christians.

All people who reject God's love and God's grace cannot be saved. We accept God's love and God's grace by obeying His commandments and giving up every sinful practice in our life. To ask, "Does Jesus love the homosexual" is to ask the wrong question. The question is, "Will Jesus save the homosexual?" Yes, He will when the homosexual is willing to repent of every sin and this includes homosexuality. To ask if God will save the homosexual is asking the wrong question. God will save all who will repent of every sin and this includes homosexuals (II Pet. 3:9).

Some try to separate Jesus and God the Father when it comes to religious questions. Some say, God may have condemned homosexuals in the Old Testament but Jesus does not condemn them. But we cannot separate God the Father and Christ the Son (Jn. 17:20-21). Jesus was with God in writing the Old Testament just as the Holy Spirit was. Some say, "But what would Jesus do?" Jesus would do what is found in the Bible. God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit have always agreed on all things in both Old and New Testaments.

Homosexuals call for their homosexual rights when according to the Bible they have none. Does a liar have lying rights according to the Bible? Does a kidnapper have kidnapping rights according to the Bible? Does a rapist have raping rights according to the Bible? Does a false prophet have false prophet rights according to the Word of God? Does one who is given to incest have incest rights according to the Bible? Does one have bestiality rights according to the Bible? Does one have murder rights according to the Bible? All these things are condemned by the Bible and no one has Bible rights to do such. It is inconsistent for one to pull out of the Bible what God has condemned and make it right and reject all the other things that God has condemned. They all either stand or fall together.
